Honeymoon in SavuSavu, Fiji
"My wife and I had the most amazing, magical, private honeymoon at the cottage of Alex and Avi. The tropical splendor cottage was beautiful, comfortable, and private. We enjoyed going to the local market in town to buy fresh fish and vegetables to bring back to cook at the cottage. The flat is very well decorated, cozy, and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. We really appreciated the A/C unit in the house because the weather in Fiji tends to get very hot and humid. The property and landscaping is very beautiful and well manicured. The beach in front of the cottage is gorgeous and private. My wife and I would walk down the beach for 45 minutes to an hour and not see one person. The internet inside the house is very spotty, so we would take our phones and laptop down to the beach where there is better reception when we needed to check messages, send email, etc. We really wanted a honeymoon where we could go somewhere that was private and spend our time alone together. We have two small children so this was our first real trip alone together. Alex was extremely friendly, helpful, and offered to take us out on his boat and a variety of excursions. He was also very kind and understanding that the two of us for the most part wanted to just hang out alone together. We really fell in love with Savusavu and the Fijian people and culture. We highly recommend the tropical splendor cottage. Alex and Avi are lovely people and have a beautiful family. Thank you!"

"Best things about the lodge are the staff and the views. Staff are super accomodating, very friendly and great people to know. They’ll go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay. The views are also incredible. Breakfast is light but filling - perfect for the hot weather. Swimming pool is small but nice for a dip. Only negative is that the only way up to the lodge is a series of steep hills. It’s pretty gravelly as well, so it’s difficult to walk. Even though there are stairs up to the lodge, it doesn’t go all the way to the street. It might be a good idea to hire a 4WD as taxis will not typically go up that driveway (it’s easy to drive around and was super convenient). The lodge does provide complementary transfer from the airport to the lodge, but you’ll need to figure the rest out yourself or pay for the service. Loads of mosquitoes in Savusavu so bring extra repellent! There’s a really nice swimming spot with coral and fish by Split Rock (6 mins drive from the lodge). 10 minutes walk from the lodge is the town with all the ammenities you need. The locals’ food is good and cheap - I recommend the pulao/palau that’s in the restaurant opposite Savusavu yacht club/next to Bargain Box. Copra Shed has a nice restaurant with vegetarian options (you’ll need to ask about it as it’s not on the menu) and a view. Overall, great place to stay and great introduction to Savusavu. There’s also a super friendly German Shepard dog on site for cuddles so 1 for that. "

Perfect reset
"A perfect property to reset and be in the moment. A very reliable driver was referred to us and he was very pleasant. We enjoyed this property over a resort to be at peace without the bustle of other tourists. It felt like a secluded paradise for us with the private pool. We enjoyed meeting the local neighbors daily as we made our way to the bay to paddleboard and snorkel… definitely a hot uphill walk with a paddleboard lol but worth it. Beautiful sunsets and gazing out over the ocean. Comfortable air conditioning in rooms. Lovely interior and decor. Lots of outdoor seating and decks to take it all in. Danielle was very helpful and met all our needs. Thank you for a wonderful stay at"

Perfect relaxing time
"This stay was amazing and I really enjoyed it. Definitely good value for what you get. I stayed in an Edgewater bura that had a ladder down into the water which really was nice for venturing out into the reef.I'm not usually one for a resort, but I would return here again. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was really top notch. Some reviews complained about reserving meals ahead of time, but when you're there it makes sense since they get fresh food from the market to reduce food waste. With various activities they can have meals ready for you too, which helped when I went spearfishing one night and was running late.If you're debating whether to travel with snorkeling or diving equipment, I would suggest bringing what you can. The snorkels and fins must be returned to the hotel by 5pm and were decent quality but could be better. The dive shop has their own equipment that could use an update, but is a nice operation and I recommend going on some dives. They have pickleball equipment if you're a fan."

Stunning
"Beautiful, spacious home with gracious hosts. We loved our stay at Bamboo House. Simon, who gave us a ride from the airport and showed us around Savusavu, Tuks and Sekony who helped us with our bags up the 100+ stairs to the home, Jolene who met us and gave us the ins and outs of the house, all made us feel so welcome. The beach out front is a little hard to access, especially at low tide, but once you’re in, the snorkeling is magnificent. And the dive shop at the nearby Cousteau resort has surprisingly reasonable rates to go out with the dive boat for even more interesting snorkeling. Definitely go to the waterfall with Simon, and don’t hesitate to take a swim—absolutely delightful. Wish I could say we’ll be back, but even though not likely, we’ll carry a little bit of Fiji in our hearts!"
